April’s Reads: Mini Reviews

As much as I would love to review every single book separately I really don’t have the time so I am hoping to stick to this format going forward. I will be doing a mini review and rate for each book that I have read on a personal (not for specific book review) level.

April was a good book month for me, I managed to read a fair few that have been on my TBR  for a while.

Today’s mini reviews will be Crown Of Midnight by Sarah. J Maas, A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E Schwab and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.

Crown of Midnight

This is the 2nd in the Throne of Glass series. I have to say after reading both this and A Court of Thorns and Roses series both by Sarah.J Maas that Throne of Glas is definitely my favourite of the two.

This follows Calaena as she starts work as the King’s Champion and the relationships she has with the people she became close to in the first book. I really like the story development and despite popular opinion I really like Calaena, I find her very relatable and I like the fact she is a bit of a badass who doesn’t just do what is expected of her. I really cannot wait to continue with the series.

A Darker Shade Of Magic

This was the April Book In A Jar choice. I had it in my TBR pile for quite some time so I was really happy to finally pick this up.

I really really enjoyed this book. At first I was a little confused by all of the London’s but I soon got to grips with it as the story progressed. I found the characters of Kell and Lila really interesting and the dynamic between them was fun.

I thought the story itself was unique and easy to follow. However, the details were amazing. The way it was told allowed me to visual the world/s so well. There was so much delicate detailing.

The Night Circus

I got The Night Circus at Christmas and I hadn’t had the chance to read it until now. When I picked up the book I was blown away by how magical the writing was, the style of it. It really did take me to a place of magic and intrigue. I admit there were bits as I was reading that I didn’t bond with and it took me a while to understand however, by the end of the book I knew what everything was about,.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Celia and Marco and also between Poppy and Bailey. That forbidden romance and love always get’s me. I was happy how it ended for them both despite it not been perfect.

Thanks for reading.
