As part of my Love Reading Ambassadorship I was asked to read Jasper: Space Dog. With this been a children’s book it meant I could read it with my 4 yr old who loves to read just as much as I do.

Jasper – Space Dog is the first in a series of hilarious stories about the ambitions of Charlie Tanner and his dog, Jasper. Released to mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landings, the story cleverly weaves facts about space missions with hilarious ideas about space. In their quest, Jasper and Charlie consult space experts to see if Jasper might make history too. Several considerations regarding the design and layout of Jasper Space Dog have been made including the use of dyslexie font and cream paper stock to assist those who may find some aspects of reading challenging.
Review
We both really enjoyed the tales of Jasper and Charlie. The story itself was based on letters from Charlie and Jasper to Isabella Starr (Rocket Scientist). They all revolved around the idea that Jasper would like to become a space dog and had a lot of questions about what happens in space, on the moon and with other space like topics. The basis of the responses from Isabella are all educational and tell the story of exactly how man came to be on the moon and how they lived in space. It was a fun and educational read.
We had particular fun discussing the topics after each chapter. Without giving too much away, chapter 1 regarding the cheese is probably our favourite and something we still giggle about now.
This was such a well written and great book for children, and something which an adult can enjoy alongside. We are really looking forward to seeing what other escapades Charlie and Jasper get up to in future novels.
Thank you to Love Reading, Hilary and Strauss House Productions for giving us the opportunity to read this marvellous book.
